Official Import Rules

Belarus requires a microchip (ISO 11784/11785), a valid rabies vaccination administered at least 30 days and no more than 12 months before arrival, and an international veterinary health certificate issued within 5 days of travel. The certificate must be endorsed by your government veterinary authority. No import permit is needed for up to 2 personal pets. A rabies antibody titer test (≥0.5 IU/ml) is required if arriving from a non-EU country and the vaccination is more than 12 months old. Dogs must also be treated for internal parasites within 5 days of travel.

City & Housing Notes

Minsk is the primary destination for expats. The city is clean and organized with affordable housing. Pet-friendly apartments are available. Brest and Grodno near the Polish border are smaller options. Note: due to international sanctions, some services and products may be limited.

Vets & Health After Arrival

Minsk has several veterinary clinics with reasonable prices. Zoovet and the Minsk City Veterinary Station are well-known. Vet care costs are very low compared to Western Europe. Pet supplies are available in major shopping centers.

Leaving Belarus With Your Dog

Exit requirements depend on destination. Belarusian veterinary services can issue export certificates. Due to current international sanctions, some travel routes may be restricted.

Videos & Route Walkthroughs

Due to international sanctions, many airlines have reduced or suspended service to Belarus. Overland crossings from neighboring countries may be an option. Check current travel advisories and airline availability before planning.

Is veterinary care good in Belarus?

Minsk has adequate veterinary care at very affordable prices. Many vets speak Russian; English-speaking vets are less common but available at some international clinics.

Can I transit through the EU with my dog to reach Belarus?

Yes, but you'll need to comply with EU pet transit requirements (EU health certificate or pet passport). Land crossings from Poland or Lithuania are possible with proper documentation.
